All strewn with jewels/ the sprightful Soča
In Ljubka Šorli's poetry, nature comes to life through the poet's experiences.
Tolmin
At the confluence of the Soča and Tolminka rivers

As a young girl, Ljubka Šorli loved going to the confluence of the Soča and the Tolminka, the rivers that she celebrated in numerous poems. She used nature motifs to convey her moods and express her romantic, patriotic and religious feelings.

Pomladno jutro ob Soči

Vsa z dragulji je posuta
Soča razigrana –
Padlo v njo z neba je sonce …
Skrij zavist, poljana!

Vonj po cvetju med svežino
se vodé razliva,
da en sam je vrt pomladni
prod in breg in njiva.

Iz daljin se lastovica
je domov vrnila
in kot nežna, topla misel
Sočo poljubila.
